STEPHEN BRAYNE

Stephen Brayne (guitar, vocals, harmonica) has been playing since the ‘60s, when he was inspired as much by the music of Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee, as by The Beatles and the Stones. Stephen was a member of the pop-psych band Fox, whose gruesomely entitled CD (LP as was!), For Fox Sake, from 1970, can still be found on the shelves of discerning outlets.

Following twenty years or more of gigging round clubs, pubs and colleges with blues band Big Road and adding the occasional harmonica track for the ‘nu-Americana’ Barker Band, Stephen formed rock-blues band Sonic Blue in 2010 and continues to gig with them at clubs, pubs and festivals. His latest venture is an acoustic blues duo, Reunion Blues, with guitarist and poet Chris Hardy.

Stephen and Alan have worked together for a number of years on Alan’s songs, with Stephen adding guitar, harmonica and harmony vocals parts, before teaming up with Nick Bidgood to form Little Beach and go gigging with the results of their labours.

Stephen’s current musical heroes are Clive Carroll, Leo Kottke, anyone who can sing a tune with conviction and anyone with more than five fingers. His favourite colour is blue.
